Meditation Tape 6 : Winter Stillness

Meditation 6 is about connecting with spirit on the darkest and longest night. The melody was improvised late on the night of the solstice while listening to an anthroposophy lecture from 1909, on the Christmas Tree, by Rudolf Steiner in Germany. A version with the lecture will be available Christmas Eve. So the music is reactive to the lecture, and even with the words removed, you can still feel the outline of the story. With this, I was hoping to channel some of Steiner’s wisdom into these melodies, giving them extra weight, to sink deeply into the souls of listeners in the dead of night. E flat has been called the key of love and devotion, so that will be home for this one. Oddly enough, the frequency for our target note is 155.555555555555 Hz.

Meditation 6 Target Focus Note: Eb3

The Meditation 6 binaural beat is constructed around an Eb major 7th chord, such that the binaural beat perceived between the “root” (left and right) is also the theoretical subharmonic “pitch” of an Eb. This design follows upward through the chord, with the binaural beat perceived between the 3rds is the theoretical subharmonic pitch of G, and so on. This makes the primary binaural beat frequency 4.12 hz, right at the bottom of the theta wave range, where meditation is hovering just above light sleep. The higher frequency binaural beats from the other chord degrees push us to the upper edge of theta so we have a more complex variable binaural beat pattern, all in harmonic support of the primary Eb target. Even this pattern is reactive to the lecture, having recorded the automation while listening along.
